Conservation has been an integral part of the program of the Boy Scouts of America since it's establishment. Throughout the years, our conservation program has continued with the theme of wise use of resources and in recent years, has expanded to include how important our natural resources are to life itself. This is reflected in the Outdoor Code (2012 version) which guides a scout or scouter's behavior in the outdoors. While the Conservation Committee and the Outdoor Ethics Committee are organizationally a separate part of the BSA's Outdoors Program function, they work together supporting each other within numerous merit badges and awards.
Below are two "posters" that highlight the merit badges and the many outdoor ethics and conservation awards that that incorporate the outdoor ethics program and conservation within their requirements.
